Within this dormitory lyes interred y^e corpps of Johan Lady Jermy daughter & sole heire of Edward Styward of Teversham in y^e county of Cam: Esq., and wife to S^r Thomas Jermy of Metfield in y^e county of Suff: Knight of y^e Bath. Whose arke after a passage of 87 years long through this deluge of teares upon y^e 6 day of May AN° 1649. Rested upon y^e mount of love they lived together in happy wedlock 36 years.
Sleepe sweetly saint since thou wert gone
ther's not the least aspertion
to rake thine ashes; no defame
to veyle the lustre of thy name
like odorous tapers thy best sent
remains after extinguishment.
Stir not these sacred asshes let them rest
till union make both soul and body blest.
