Let no good man ever remove this stone or disturb the dust beneath, being the Remains of Alice, the wife of Isaac, Eldest son of Jacob Preston, Esqr., of this Place, Who was born May the 1st 1716, married April the 3rd 1738, and died universally lamented Aprill ye 27th 1743. She seem'd over to have been continued in ye Life untill she had approved herself deserving of a better. Living an Example most worthy of Imitation in ye several Relations of Wife, Daughter, Sister and Friend, but always and most of all a Christian, pious without affectation. She was the only surviving Daughtr and Heiress of William Durrant of Scottow in Norfolk Esqr., by Alice, one of the Co-heiresses of the Reverend Ja. Clough, M.A., of Pemberton in Lancashire, and Rector of Suffield, and left Issue Eliz., Alice Jacob, and Jane.
